The World’s Best Private Jet – a Boeing 787
FORGET First and Business class, this private passenger jet takes luxury travel to serious new heights.
In a world first, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner has been transformed into an airborne penthouse apartment.
The spacious aircraft, which can accommodate up to 40 passengers, features an entertainment and study lounge, dedicated dining spaces, an en-suite master bedroom with a 42-inch TV, a dressing room and an enormous hotel-style bathroom complete with a shower.
Boeing 787 Dreamliners are usually commercial aircraft, carrying between 240 and 335 passengers.
But for the lucky few who are invited to step on board this aeroplane, the in-flight experience is air-miles away from that offered on a typical Boeing flight.
The interior, co-developed by yacht and aircraft design specialists Pierrejean Design, has been kitted out with high domed ceilings, hardwood floors, sculptured hardwood doors and hand-crafted carpets.
Passengers can control the lighting, TV screens, window blinds and request attention from the flight attendants using tablets.
The one-of-a-kind Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) was developed by Kestrel Aviation Management, an American aviation asset manager, and has been dubbed the Dreamjet.
Designers were keen for the aircraft to stimulate the passengers' senses - catering for smell and taste in the plane's air distribution and filtration system and using soft, luxurious textures and banishing sharp edges to appeal to touch.
And the stunning interior is certainly a sight to behold.
The jet, which has been in development since 2009 and was unveiled at this year’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Geneva, was bought by an undisclosed Asian client.
It has a 9,800 nautical mile range and can fly for more than 17 hours non-stop.
