Amodu Shuaibu Buried in Okpella, Edo State

The remains of the former Nigeria head coach and Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amodu Shuaibu, was on Saturday laid to rest at his residence in Okpella, Edo State.

The renowned soccer tactician passed on in his sleep after complaining of chest pains in the early hours of Saturday morning around 12:30am.

His remains was brought into his residence from the Stella Obasanjo Hospital, Benin on Saturday afternoon and was buried later in the evening around 5:15pm.

According to Islamic cleric Ahmed Shehu,  Amodu’s exit was a great loss to Okpella community, Edo state and Nigeria at large.

Earlier, as his corpse arrived his country home, family members, neighbours, journalists and residents of Okpella were already gathered in the late Amodu's compound to pay their last respects.

Amodu's departure came just three days after that of another former Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, in Benin as some family members and neighbours cried and wailed uncontrollably on sighting his corpse.
Present at Amodu's burial was Secretary General of the NFF Mohammed Sanusi, chairman of the Edo State FA Frank Ilaboya, Kogi state FA boss Umarr Isah Sulieman, Robinson Okosun were joined by hundreds of sympathizers to bid the sports icon farewell.

Also present were top officials of the Edo State government, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Kassim Afegbua, who is also late Amodu's cousin; Commissioner for Environment, Clem Agba, among others.
Amodu is survived by an aged mother, wife and seven children.
