- This will clear the way for Oburu to vie for the MP seat in August 8
A scheme by ODM leader Raila Odinga's brother to force an MP to step out of the race in his favour has backfired.
Oburu and Raila.
It has emerged that Oburu Odinga has been using proxies to force current Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda to abandon his reelection plan.
This will clear the way for Oburu to vie for the MP seat in August 8.
Oburu held the Bondo MP seat for 20 years until 2013 when he vied for the Siaya gubernatorial seat but lost and was nominated.
The Nation reports that Ochanda has now declined to opt out of the MP race for Oburu in exchange of a deputy governor position.
Interestingly, it is Ochanda who accepted to surrender his gubernatorial ambitions for Oburu in 2013.
"I can confirm to you that I have been approached by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and Nyando MP Fred Outa to drop my bid for Oburu in exchange for a running mate's slot," he is quoted by the Nation. The two MPs however denied they were on such a mission.
But Ochanda says he cannot accept to be Siaya Govenor Cornel Rasanga's running mate as he was not interested in the position.
