Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen's political career may be in the balance if a recommendations by a parliamentary committee regarding the NYS scandal are to be adopted.
Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.
The senator is among those implicated in the scandal that saw billions of shillings looted under the watch of former Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
Waiguru mentioned Murkomen while giving her testimony before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
She also mentioned Deputy President William Ruto's aide, Farouk Kibet as another beneficiary of the loot.
Murkomen is a close ally of DP Ruto.
.Now PAC has compiled a report regarding the scandal and among the recommendations is that which bars anyone implicated in the scandal from vying for an elective post in the August 8 General Elections.
Murkomen and Waiguru have announced they will be seeking to be elected. Murkomen will defend his seat while Waiguru is seeking to become Kirinyaga county governor.
However, PAC members have failed to agree on whether to adopt the recommendations.
Reports indicate tempers flared when a section of the committee learned that their colleagues had tried to water down the recommendations to give those implicated a lifeline.
There are rumours that a section of the committee members was prevailed upon to write a favourable report.
