Lagos Based Lawyer Blasts Adeshina, Garuba over Rumours about President Buhari’s Health

February 25, 2017, 12:54 pm

One time Commissioner for Ogun State and Lagos based Lawyer, Chief Fassy Yusuf has blast the unproffesional way Adeshina and Garuba is handling the issues bothering on the President Muhammadu Buhari’s health.

Fassy, who is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), said that Adeshina and Garuba are not public relations practitioners and therefore they do not know what they are doing.

“To me, it is naïve of Adeshina to be saying he does not need to talk to the president for him to disseminate information about the president. In public relations, it is not allow. You must speak with your principal”, Dr Fassy blasted.

He added that this is the reason for the spreading initial rumour about the president’s death in social media. He believes if somebody has be coming out every day to brief Nigerians about the status of the president’s health, there will be no debate on the call from some quarters that the president should resign.

Fassy disagreed with people calling for the Buhari to vacate his office as the president of Nigeria. He said the constitution has already made provision for that and as such the constitution will be the deciding factor.

He felt that big issue should be how the president health is hampering the development of Nigeria due to his incapacitation and what can be done to leave recession

The lawyer who is at adjunct lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Lagos  summated that people that claimed the president’s health is a private issue are lacking the knowledge of good governance and leadership.

Fassy added that “The president is not a private figure, he is a public figure. His action and inaction are subject to public scrutiny because he is being maintained by public fund. He is accountable to 170 million people and the whole world”

He also blamed the docility of the Nigerian Media on the matter for being the reason the presidency are not really been put on hot seat.
