Details of Rwanda and Burundi Nationals Arrested Registering as Voters in Ruto's Backyard

- Three foreign athletes have been arrested trying to register as voters

- Two Burundi and Rwanda nationals were arrested at Sinetwo mobile ID registration centre in Elgeyo, Marakwet

- They had changed their names to Kalenjin names and had obtained leaving certificates from a local school

Three foreign athletes have been arrested with forged documents in Elgeyo Marakwet trying to register as voters.

Two Rwandans and one Burundian were allegedly attempting to use the forged documents to get ID's to register as voters at Sinetwo mobile ID registration centre.

They were arrested together with a Kenyan athlete Laban Kipkoech, who was helping them to get the IDs.

The foreigners had used the fake documents to acquire Kalenjin names with Hakizimana Gervaiz calling himself Geoffrey Kimutai Kigen while Hagenimana Olivier as Peter Kipkembboi Rop.

The three had even obtained leaving certificates from a school in Ainabkoi constituency, Uasin Gishu which was signed a local headteacher.

One of the suspects also pretended to be deaf but later spoke,

Deputy county commissioner Dhaabu Mwadime said the matter is being handled with a lot of seriousness and the suspects will be arraigned in court after the investigation.
