Supporters of Ex-FCT Minister Laments Incarceration by EFCC
Supporters of Former Minister of Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, under the auspices of Kaura Support Group, on Monday, expressed worry over his continued incarceration by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The spokesperson of the supporters group in Bauchi, Alhaji Yusuf Rakis Mohammed, who disclosed this while addressing journalists shortly after rising from an urgent meeting in Bauchi on Monday, said that the supporters of the ex-minister ‘‘ are very worried over his continue detention by EFCC, when other personalities were not detained but only invited to answer questions and then asked to go’’.
According to hm, ‘‘We want to express our grievances over the continued detention of the former FCT minister by the EFCC,. We know the senator have zero tolerance for corruption and we believe the honest investigation will vindicate him.
We convene the meeting to show our sympathy to our amiable leader and with his integrity, personality and respect, he should not be treated like a common man on the street after putting his best for the country in eight years as a minister, he doesn't deserve such treatment’’.
“When he was the FCT Minister, Bala embarked and completed many projects which have changed the face of FCT. He also improved on the infrastructure of FCT which has never been equalled by any past minister.And despite that, Senator Bala Mohammed is a non-tribalistic Nigerian and philanthropy, who remains a strong pillar of the people of Bauchi state" ,Rakis Added.
Also speaking Suleiman Mohammed Bello explained that senator Bala was not arrested as said in some quarters, but personally went to the EFCC office on invitation, and cautioned ‘ ‘ ‘‘mischief-makers to shut-up and stop heating up the polity because he was only invited to come and shade more light on what he knows’’.
"We are sure that Bala will be vindicated and his travails is not unconnected to the good reputation of the former Minister eyeing the gubernatorial seat ahead of 2019. We find it expedient to identify with the former Minister in solidarity while urging our supporters to be law abiding," the group further stated.
